Whitfield Double Diamond Takes Royal Highland Championship

Whitfield Double Diamond made history at the 2024 Royal Highland Show, taking the Breed Championship in the first ever Kerry Hill classes to be held at the prestigious Scottish event.

The inaugural classes took place on Friday 21st June and attracted a strong entry, with 15 exhibitors travelling from across Scotland and Northern England to compete under judge Will Evans of the Lowlands flock, Carmarthenshire.

It proved to be a memorable day for the Whitfield flock, with our homebred shearling ewe Whitfield Double Diamond winning her class before going on to take Female Champion and ultimately the Overall Breed Championship.

Double Diamond is a homebred ewe, sired by Whitfield Bombastic and out of Whitfield Paparazzi, representing several generations of Whitfield breeding.

Her Royal Highland success follows an excellent start to the 2024 show season, having already stood first in her class and Reserve Female Champion at the Kerry Hill Sheep Society National Show at Staffordshire County Show just a few weeks earlier.

To take the championship at the first ever Kerry Hill classes at the Royal Highland as well as the 125th society anniversary year makes the achievement particularly special and marks another important milestone for the Whitfield flock.

It was fantastic to see the Kerry Hill breed represented at the Royal Highland for the first time, with such a strong turnout of exhibitors and sheep helping to showcase the breed on one of the UK's biggest agricultural stages.

We now look forward to the rest of the 2024 show season with Double Diamond and the rest of the Whitfield show team.
